TAKE ME TO THE MOVIES

Palm Springs Producer Premieres Documentary at Los Angeles Film Festival
James Egan is no stranger to the film world both as a teacher and behind the camera. The Palm Springs resident is anxious to have the story of the late great saxophonist Frank Morgan be shown to audiences starting June 14 at the LA Film Festival. Find out why he believes it's such a compelling story.

MAKE ME LAUGH

Julie Goldman headlines Joshua Tree Gay Pride Festival
June is Gay Pride month, and Joshua Tree has expanded its entertainment lineup to include lesbian comedian Julie Goldman, who can currently be seen on Bravo with Brandy Howard on the show, Julie & Brandy in Your Box. Goldman looks forward to her first trip to Joshua Tree, where the festival is geared for the whole family.

The Purple Room Comedy Night

LIVE MUSIC

Dancing With the Stars Dancer Sings
You might not know Mark Ballas by his full name, but you probably recognize him if you have ever watched the reality dancing competition show. He's always among the dancers competing for the Mirror Ball trophy. But did you know he also sings? Hear him perform June 13 at the Riviera Palm Springs.

Roberto Tapia Brings Latin Sound to Valley
Roberto Tapia has made guest appearances on Latin Billboards Awards and LATV, and is a coach on the Spanish-language version of The Voice, La Voz Kids, on the Telemundo Network. His music blends regional Norteña music with hints of electronica and hip hop. See him June 14 at Spotlight 29 Casino in Coachella.

Summer of Love
The Art Laboe Summer Love Jam comes to The Show at Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa June 14 featuring El Chicano, Rose Royce, MC Magic, Amanda Perez and Club Noveau. Remember "Rumors" from Club Noveau? Or "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" from Rose Royce?

A PIECE OF HISTORY

You Can Buy a Piece of Memorabilia of The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies
If you've attended the Fabulous Palm Springs Follies Show over the last 23 years before it closed for good last month, now you have a chance to take home a piece of the show. Follies souvenirs and memorabilia will be sold June 13-14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

FATHER'S DAY BRUNCHES, DINNERS

Celebrating Dad
Several Coachella Valley restaurants are putting a special spread for Father's Day, such as Melvyns, Flemings Prime Steakhouse, Tommy Bahamas, Cello's and LG's Prime Steakhouse. Best to make reservations.

THE THEATRE, THE THEATRE

THE STOPS
A new musical by Eric Lane Barnes makes a six-week run at the Desert Rose Playhouse, the valley's live stage company serving the LGBT community. Performances are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays. Ginny, Euglena, and Rose perform a benefit concert for their mentor, who was ousted from his position as church music director because of his sexuality.
