Service Line Administrator — Orthopedics and Neurosciences, Desert Regional Medical Center

Age: 26

As a college undergrad, Ashley Vertuno nixed her original plan to become an orthopedic surgeon but chose to stay within the healthcare field on a management path.

While attending Virginia Commonwealth University, she studied business administration and management with coursework in healthcare.

To fulfill her ambition of becoming a hospital CEO by 35, she went on to obtain her master’s degree in health administration from the University of South Carolina.

There, Vertuno received support and guidance from many mentors in her field. Today, in her current role in Palm Springs, she oversees operations and develops strategies in orthopedics and neuroscience.

“I have amazing mentors who have pushed me in my career. They have taken me on this journey, and I am excited to see where it will lead me,” Vertuno says.

She feels that her generation is not afraid to take risks and aim high.

“We have seen and experienced some challenging events in history, like 9/11, a housing market crash, and now what is occurring today in healthcare,” she says. “This generation is seeking out opportunities and running with them while trying to create a healthier, well-rounded lifestyle with a stress-free workplace.”
