Salsa Festival

Apr 11, 2006 - 04:43 PM
It amazes me sometimes to discover how versatile certain kinds of food can be. My own bookshelf has entire cookbooks filled with recipes featuring single ingredients, i.e., Portobello mushrooms, chilis, garlic, and beans (once upon a time, I even had a Jello cookbook). Sometimes it’s inspiring to see how other people treat ingredients to create something completely different than what you know. And so it is with salsa. For a taste (or actually for a whole bunch of tastes) of how this works, there’s the annual Indio Salsa Festival, which is coming up April 22-23. The festival not only includes a salsa tasting competition, but also salsa dancing, live music, a carnival, art and car shows, and vendors. The event takes place at the Riverside County Fairgrounds.
