Tax Freedom Day
admin
Apr 12, 2006 - 08:08 AM
Tax Freedom Day (TFD) is calculated by dividing the amount of taxes collected by the government in each year by the amount of income we earn in each year. America's TFD for 2006 was announced this morning, and it falls on April 26.California celebrates TFD on April 30... not quite as good as Alabama (April 11), but not as bad as Connecticut (May 12), and definitely not as bad as Britain (June 3) or poor Sweden (end of July).
FYI: April 15 falls on a Saturday this year, so the IRS filing deadline has been pushed back to Monday the 17th. Aren't you thrilled? I know I am.
