This event will be held during National Peace Officers Memorial Week on Wednesday May 13, 2009 at 7 P.M. at the Palm Springs Convention Center, 277 North Avenida Caballeros, Palm Springs, California.
The Palm Springs Police Officers' Association in conjunction with the Los Angeles County Professional Peace Officers Association have teamed up to raise money to benefit fallen Peace Officers and their families throughout California.
The "Guns-N-Hoses" Police vs Fire Submission Fight Competition will feature the toughest public safety competitors from throughout the United States, for a one-on-one public safety dual, with the victor receiving a defendable championship belt, a $500 purse and an opportunity to help their respective police/fire team secure bragging rights as America’s toughest public servant!
This charity event will include 5 bouts, including our very own, Palm Springs PD Officer Mike Barredo, in the Light-Weight Division.
Honor guard displays, ring girls, team entourages, and extra-ordinary special effects await spectators to this dynamic athletic contest. This will be a great night with fun and entertainment!
They are also pleased to announce the celebrity appearance of one-of-thier-own, retired LAPD and UFC/Affliction star, Big John McCarthy!
Big John will serve as the referee for the night’s duals!! Big John and his fight staff at Big John McCarthy’s Ultimate Training Academy have carefully constructed the fighter’s rules-of-conduct to ensure an event unrivaled in quality & action — “Let's get it on!”

ABOUT GUNS ‘N HOSES
The Guns-N-Hoses, Fire vs. Police Submission Grappling Fight Championship is a one-of-a-kind charity event developed to raise money for charities supporting the bereaved family members of fallen police and firefighters. Given an increasing dangerous first response landscape, as well as resiliently high mortality rates within these professions, short-term assistance to these families is expected to be in continued demand.
Guns-N-Hoses Submission Grappling Fight Championship will pit fireman and policeman submission grappling contestants against one another in a Battle of the Shields. The night’s event has been choreographed for entertainment effect and will include: honor guard display, pipes and drum teams, beautiful rendition of national anthem, patriotic displays, DJ music, team entourages, ring girls, celebrity personalities, and event special effects.
The Guns-N-Hoses, Fire vs. Police Submission Grappling Fight Championship are held throughout California and beyond. Attendance to these dynamic events range from 1,000 to over 2,500 spectators
