THE INDIAN WELLS ARTS FESTIVAL -- At the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

The 6th Annual INDIAN WELLS ARTS FESTIVAL is scheduled for April 4, 5 & 6, 2008, at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden - Home of the Pacific Life Open. More than 200 award winning artists will transform the magnificent path-lined plaza into a spectacular festival experience and the place to be! Indian Wells is conveniently located in the heart of the Southern California -- Palm Springs/Desert Resort communities.

You don't need to be an art aficionado to enjoy the Indian Wells Arts Festival. Numerous on site demonstrations include glass blowing, painting, weaving, large scale stone sculpturing, mural work, pottery throwing, canvass stretching and glass bead making. This year's special exhibits feature a hands-on approach with "Art Beyond the Visual - An Exhibit to Touch" which incorporates Braille elements, while Recycle Bicycle adds a bit of fun and whimsy with painted, twisted and embellished bikes.

With a celebrated reputation for quality and wide variety of fine art and craft, artists travel from throughout the country to participate. Selected by jury process, they are on hand to explain and demonstrate the techniques that created hundreds of pieces of one-of-a-kind artwork available for purchase. Offerings include painting, drawing, ceramics, glass, photography, sculpture, jewelry, apparel and hand-crafted wares. More than 10,000 attended last year's Festival, from local residents and tourists to serious buyers and collectors. Art sales topped $900,000.

A Gourmet Market Place offers gourmet specialties and Art Market offers art products. Sidewalk chalk drawing, children's activities, wine tasting, musical entertainment and refreshment are happening throughout the day.

The Indian Wells Arts Festival is designed to incorporate a number of local charities as partners in the Festival. Participating organizations include College of the Desert Art Department, Braille Institute, The Children s Discovery Museum of the Desert, Student Creative Recycle Art Program (SCRAP) Gallery, The Champions Volunteer Foundation and Palm Desert Soroptomist.

Festival Producer, Dianne Funk, describes the Festival's objective: "We promote both celebrated and emerging artists within a festive environment designed to be enjoyed by all. The creative synergy of artists and local organizations enhances our venue while we donate to their art programs and scholarships."

General admission: $8.00 for Adults, Children 12 and under free. Parking - FREE with Valet available. The Indian Wells Tennis Garden, 78-200 Miles Avenue, Indian Wells, California.
