The TROPICALE RESTAURANT & LOUNGE Now Open in Palm Springs
By Tim Kennedy
A modern version of the upbeat lounges of '50's and 60's
After more than a year of planning and building, The TROPICALE Restaurant and Lounge is now open. Bringing back to the desert the feeling of the upbeat supper clubs and lounges of the 1950's and 60's, this swanky restaurant is set to add a new level of energy and fun to downtown Palm Springs.
The TROPICALE Partners
Tony Di Lembo A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Tony is a professional chef and baker and the founder of Los Angeles restaurants Indigo, Chippy's Diner, and Tahiti. "My partners and I have vacationed in Palm Springs for years and we are so excited to be living here now and adding a fun new venue to the mix. The area is perfect for a mid-priced, fun menu with something for everyone. We love Palm Springs."
Rob Kenzi This Chicago native comes from a family of restaurateurs and heads up the dining room at The TROPICALE. Rob joined Tony at Tahiti and together they opened Chippy's Diner. "The design of the dining room was inspired by the carefree and fun-loving movies of the era. Everyone had a big cocktail in hand and they were really having fun. Most of our table configurations are circular booths and from them you can see the entire dining room. We've created the modern supper club."
Ranz Wienert Ranz is the experienced barman in the group having worked with the Hard Rock Cafe, Atlas Supper Club and Nick and Steph's in Los Angeles and the Key Club at the Morongo Casino in Cabazon. "The unique design of our bar takes advantage of the great year-round weather in the desert. We will have as many outdoor seats as we do inside. The TROPICALE's patio is going to be a great new gathering place for everyone."
