Winewomen PSP is Back, Bigger and Better Than Ever

A group of seven local women have recast the popular wine-appreciation group known as Winewomen, newly renamed Winewomen PSP.

The organization is hosting its 2008 kickoff event and membership drive on Thursday, January 31st at the new STIR Lounge at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort and Spa in Indian Wells from to .

Wine pairings to frame a meal is the evening's chosen theme. Wine-curious, newbies and aficionados are invited to sample appetizers, chocolates and desserts paired with white and red wines chosen to elevate the food-wine experience.

A portion of the event's proceeds will benefit Les Dames D'Escoffier scholarship fund supporting valley students who pursue careers of excellence in culinary arts and hospitality.

The valley's first Winewomen was founded in 2005 by Laurie Nadeau and Tami Ryan soon after Nadeau moved to Palm Desert from Toronto, where she'd launched her first successful Winewomen group.

Winewomen PSP continues the fun, spirit and focus of the first group. Monthly events are dedicated to enhancing women's awareness, knowledge and responsible enjoyment of wine. While networking, great food and wine, prizes, shopping and other benefits are all important to its membership, the organization's primary drive is charity.

Proceeds from Winewomen's diverse menu of social, gustatory and educational events have benefited local charities such as Act for MS, Safehouse of the Desert, Women Leader's Forum scholarship fund, breast cancer research and others.
