WEEKEND!Tonight: At 7pm, Palm Desert's Civic Center Park Amphitheater at 73510 Fred Waring will host a screening of the film "Shark Tale." Free movies are almost as good as free food.

Friday: Listen to some country rock played by Matchless (formerly Greyside) at Pappy & Harriet's in Pioneertown, 7pm. And remember to wear your sh__kicking boots!

Saturday morning: The CoD Street Fair runs from 7am-noon in Palm Desert. "C'mon in, buy something you don't even need!" —Tijuana street vendor, hawking his wares

Saturday afternoon: From 9am-5pm, it's the 10th Annual International Gourd Art Festival in Fallbrook, featuring over 55 gourd art exhibitors, hands-on gourd crafting arena, nationwide gourd art competition, wine and microbrews in the wine garden, art demonstrations, food and refreshments. I've always wanted a gourd spittoon. Wonder if they'll have any?

Saturday evening: At 8pm, Caballeros (The Gay Men's Chorus of Palm Springs) presents "And The Nominees Are..." at the McCallum Theatre, with special guest star Florence Henderson. They'll be performing Oscar®-nominated songs, both winners and also-rans, with NO ACCEPTANCE SPEECHES ALLOWED!

Sunday: Key Club at Morongo presents Styx at 7pm. Six degrees of separation from Ringo Starr, who also performs at a local casino on Sunday night: the Beatles, with Ringo drumming, first recorded "I Am the Walrus," a song that Styx has made into a flashback-triggering video. Well okay, it was only ONE degree of separation. So sue me. Goo goo goo joob.
