Building New Beginnings

The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission is very excited to announce the launch of our building campaign, Building New Beginnings. Their ministry of helping hungry and hurting people will be expanded to 150 men, women and children. Their continued goal for every individual coming to the Mission is to provide shelter, a meal and spiritual hope for new beginnings.

The 80 bed current facility works with men, women and children from all walks of life. Whether it is the loss of a job, home, family, health or spirit, the Mission gives them a place to stay and helps them take the steps back to independent living. In addition, the Chapel is cleared of chairs and 25 additional mats are placed on the floor for men and women escaping the desert's overnight weather. Over 450 meals daily are served and 50-60 food boxes are distributed weekly to families whose paycheck does not cover both home and food costs. In the New Life Program, men and women participate in work therapy, classes on anger management, parenting, life skills, finance and Bible studies.

The current 1930's era site is difficult to maintain and is filled to capacity, so they are having to turn away people. The new property across is paid in full due to the generosity of valley donors and events sponsored by Denise Roberge of Palm Desert. The building plans in the common area include an expanded kitchen and dining hall, chapel, classrooms, computer room, counseling rooms, and administration office. The planned larger Men's building and Women and Family Shelter will continue to help men and women with a warm bed and encouragement to take steps to end the cycle of addiction and homelessness.

The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation serving the Valley's hungry, hurting, and homeless population since 1971, with food, shelter, clothing, and Spiritual guidance.
