Desert Swing'n Dixie Jazz Festival is Back!!

This popular three-day event on March 14, 15, and 16 will be held at four venues around the Palm Springs Pavilion, all within walking distance of each other. Performers Johnny Meza and wife Lola Rossi are festival director and president and will be performing at several venues.

Director have put together an exciting jazz event. Don't miss it!

A fun-filled musical weekend, presented by the Dixieland Jazz Society of the Desert, features 13 exciting bands from around the country and local favorite musicians including the hot jazz bands from Cathedral City and Palm Springs high schools. Jazz bands are: Chicago Six, Coyote Hills, Fulton Street, High Sierra (considered one of the top jazz bands in the country), Jim Beatty, Jim Kirwan's Hot Sand Stompers, Night Blooming Jazzmen, Prime Time, South Burgundy Street, Titanic, Yve Evans and Company, and Reece Marshburn Quartet. Local favorites, all with impressive career backgrounds, are the Pat Rizzo Trio, Carole Hampton, Gino Antonacci Quintet, Marshall Hawkins Quartet (of Idyllwild Jazz Festival fame), and the Pat Tuzzolino Band.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be available for purchase at The Pavilion and The Elks Lodge #1905 will provide a full-service bar. The Boys & Girls Key Club will sell non-alcoholic beverages, hamburgers, hot dogs, snacks, and ice cream. All venues have dance floors and the 2008 Dance Bash benefiting the Stroke Activity Center will be held on Sunday at The Pavilion from 5 to 10 p.m., featuring the Ted Herman Orchestra, The Manny Lopez Latin Dance Band, and The Johnny Meza Band with Lola Rossi and special guest star the legendary Herb Jeffries.

A Scholarship and Music Programs Raffle will be held to benefit Palm Springs and Cathedral City High School bands, Idyllwild Arts Academy, Palm Springs YMCA, and the Palm Springs Boys & Girls Club.

The traditional Sunday Hymn-Along at The Pavilion with The Night Blooming Jazzmen and Herb Jeffries is a must and do visit the many vendors,
