Memorial Day Fun in Palm Springs
By Kelly O'Connor
Looking for some family fun in Palm Springs this memorial day?
Local museums have just the cure — excitement and education.
Palm Spring Air Museum
Forest Lawn Memorial-Parks & Mortuaries sponsors the museum's annual Memorial Day Flower Drop.
Come out to honor and remember those who have lost their lives fighting for our country. A WWII vintage warbird will drop 2000 white and 1000 red carnations to memorialize our fallen war heros. Visitors can take a flower home as a souvenir.
The event begins at 1 p.m. Visit www.palmspringsairmuseum.com or call (760) 778-6262 for more information.
Children's Discovery Museum
The popular family destination that fosters creativity and bonding will extend their hours for the holiday weekend — staying open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sat. May 24 and Sun. May 25.
The hands on array of exhibits are always a hit with the young'uns. Able to create their own pizza pies with arts and crafts supplies, play dress up from a chest full of costumes and grown up clothes, and paint their mark on a VW bug; kids always leave with a smile and can't wait to plan their next trip.
Admission is $8 ages 2 and up. Individual memberships are available at $25. Visit www.cdmod.org or call us (760) 321-0602 for more info.
