Lantana Offers Half off Wines Featured at Fall Event

Hyatt Grand Champions Resort, Villas and Spa's Lantana Restaurant will be among local restaurants featured during the two-day Grand Tasting at the Art of Food & Wine Palm Desert taking place through Sunday.

"We are excited to showcase Lantana's contemporary California cuisine at this upscale food and wine celebration," said Executive Chef Chris Mitchum. "To preview this great event, guests can enjoy eight of the varietals to be featured at the Art of Food & Wine available at our Lantana Restaurant, while also receiving half off any bottle over dinner."

The third annual Art of Food & Wine Palm Desert is a four-day celebration attracting thousands of art and culinary enthusiasts from across California and around the country to enjoy the best in art, food and wine hospitality and education, supported by today's leading chefs, sommeliers, winemakers, artists and exclusive local restaurants of the Coachella Valley. Poised to become the premier West Coast destination for the discerning palate, this event offers attendees delicious food sampling prepared by local chefs, book signings, seminars, shopping, and live music.

Hyatt Grand Champions Resort, Villas and Spa's Lantana Restaurant will participate in the events signature Grand Tastings from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 8 and 9.

The featured California wineries and wines – participating in the event and offered at Lantana – include Chalone Chardonnay, Monterey County; Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc and Chenin Blanc/Viognier, Clarksburg; Red Truck Cabernet Sauvignon; Beaulieu Vineyard, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley; Cline Zinfandel, Contra Costa County; Summerland Syrah/Grenache Mourvedre, Santa Barbara; and Opus One, Napa Valley.

"California wines perfectly complement Lantana's cuisine that highlights food from the coastal regions to the inland farmlands," said Food and Beverage Director Steven Carl. "Lantana offers fresh seafood, beef, chicken, lamb, veal and locally-grown, farm-fresh produce in a very creative menu."

Under Lantana's "togetherness" offerings are "Two Fish That Used to Swim" including cous cous, sultana, pine nut and basil relish; "Three Shellfish" of lobster beet hash, sea scallops and prawns; "Lamb saddle? Lamb rack? Both," a rosemary lamb shank risotto; and "Corn Fed With Lots of Flavor" of petit filet, hanger steak and boneless short ribs. Among individual entrees are house dry-aged prime New York steak, pepper-crusted ahi tuna, a vegetarian dish of the day, grilled salmon and lemon verbena roasted chicken.

Appetizers range from Duck confit lumpia and crispy Dungeness crab to steamed baby clams and Korean short ribs. For lunch and dinner are two daily soups, a variety of salads, sandwiches, burgers, and wood-fired gourmet pizzas.
