09/26/08Palm Springs' Canyon National is Largest U.S. Bank with Tribal InvestmentPALM SPRINGS, CA: September 2 6 , 2008 - The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency ("OCC") reports that, of the six nationally chartered banks with an investment by a Native American Tribe, Canyon National Bank has the largest asset base with total assets at June 30, 2008, of $290 million. The Palm Springs-based Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians owns 43% of the stock in Canyon Bancorp, the single-subsidiary holding company of Canyon National Bank. The Tribe was a founding shareholder when the bank opened in July, 1998, investing $3.6 million of the initial $8 million in capital. Ten years later, Canyon National Bank reported Total Stockholder's Equity of $28 million and a "Well Capitalized" regulatory rating as of June 30, 2008. The Agua Caliente Band of... 09/26/08Palm Springs Pride November 1st and 2nd to Celebrate "Family"This year, Greater Palm Springs Pride will feature the theme "Winds of Change–Celebrating Family" in recognition of significant strides in the past year to advance individual rights, particularly gay marriage. As in past years, the event will include a two day festival on November 1st and 2nd at Palm Springs Stadium and the Greater Palm Springs Pride Parade down Palm Canyon Drive in downtown Palm Springs, on Sunday, November 2nd, beginning at 10 am.Gay couples who have legally married in California are invited to march in a special contingent in the parade.
