Chef Andie Hubka is on a mission: She’s pairing wine with audacious cuisine and displaying both in a setting that is chic, youthful, and intimate.

“Our age group is under-represented here,” she said during a recent tasting at her restaurant, Cork & Fork Wine Bar & Kitchen, 47875 Caleo Bay,  in La Quinta.

Now, hip, urban professionals, as well as the Coachella Valley glitterati can feast on a number of items ranging from wood-fired artisan pizzas to seasonal soups and fresh pastas. Hubka’s inspiration for Cork & Fork stems from her time spent as the executive chef at Cooking with Class La Quinta – a culinary school she founded with her mother, Jane Angwin.

After numerous requests to open a restaurant, Hubka complied. Like the tapas bars made popular in larger metropolitan areas, Cork & Fork provides the opportunity to nosh at any price point.

“We want people to be able to choose their own adventure when it comes to dinner, which is why we offer small plates so that people can try several different things and split or share,” Hubka said. “Our special Happy Hour pricing between 4-6 p.m. allows people to have at least three to four dishes each for about $20 per person, so everyone at the table can sample several items. It’s comfort food with a twist."

The wine list is equally impressive, boasting whites, reds, rosés, sweet wines, cocktails and even draft beer. Non-drinkers can choose from soft drinks and iced tea infusions.

Cork & Fork is the perfect location to steal away for a girls’ night out, a romantic first date or an ideal spot to bring someone who is new to the area. If you’re not careful, it might just become your favorite hideaway to just sit back and relax with a glass of wine at the end of the day.

Cork and Fork Wine Bar & Kitchen is located next door to Cooking with Class in La Quinta, at the corner of Avenue 48 and Washington St. behind Walgreens.
