More than 80 exhibitors, the largest in the 14-year history of the Modernism Show & Sale and in North America, will showcase their wares Feb. 14 at the Palm Springs Convention Center as one of the highlights of Modernism Week, which runs Feb. 13-23.

Even at its biggest, there is a waiting list of international and national dealers wanting a spot at the show, according to Rosemary Krieger, president of Dolphin Promotions, the show's production  company.

"Since our first show 14 years ago, the Palm Springs Modernism Show has continued to grow in size and attendance each year," Krieger says.

In that first year in 2001, 40 dealers participated in the show. Since then the show has grown 20 percent each year, Krieger says. Last year, 73 dealers had booths, and this year there are 85.

New to this year's dealer lineup is Alexandre Huygevelde of Paris, Gallery 925 of San Francisco, Gary Snyder Fine Art of New York, Loft Thirteen of Los Angeles, and Timeless Modernism of Florida. Among the returning dealers are Mark McDonald of New York, Vintage European Posters of California, and Southern California-based galleries Design/One, Fat Chance, ocmodern, Off the Wall, Reform, and Studio One 11.

Attendees will also be treated to two public appearances:

• Author Bill Stern, who will sign his book, "California's Designing Women 1896-1986" from 6-9 p.m. Feb. 14, and Feb. 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3-4 p.m.

Famed Palm Springs architect Hugh Kaptur, who will have limited edition, museum-quality prints of rare original 1960s hand-drawn building renderings for sale from 2-4 p.m. Feb. 15.

The Modernism Show & Sale opens Feb. 14 with a preview from 6-9 p.m., and continues Feb. 15 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 16, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 17.
