Music festival lures bands and fans from around the world

Forget Burning Man. Coachella, the largest music festival in the West, is hotter than ever with headliners Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Bjork joining an all-star lineup of more than 100 bands and DJs — including the Arcade Fire, Interpol, Sonic Youth, DJ Shadow, Travis, and Willie Nelson. Revelers come from around the world to camp out for the three-day music and art festival on the polo grounds in Indio. At press time in March, three-day passes were sold out and rumors were circulating about a surprise appearance by The Police. Information: www.coachella.com.
