Inspired to save lives of Coachella Valley’s cancer patients, BIGHORN Behind a Miracle (BAM) was designed by Members: Selby Dunham, Kay Truitt and Vickee Schons to support Eisenhower Schnitzer/Novack Breast Center and the Eisenhower BIGHORN Radiation Oncology Center. Going on their second year, a committee of 22 ladies collaborated and headed up fund raising efforts through sponsorships, gathering raffle and tee prizes and registering players for the tournament which occurred yesterday on the Canyons course at BIGHORN Golf Club.

“BIGHORN BAM was the largest single private fund raiser benefiting Eisenhower Medical Center this season,” says Betty Wolf, Foundation Executive Director, Eisenhower Medical Center. “Their spirited donation will help Coachella Valley patients fight breast cancer through Mammogram machines and equipment, a Breast MRI Computer Aided Detection system, a Digital Faxitron, a Gamma Probe for Sentinel Lymph Node Localization, counseling and transportation services for those who receive daily radiation treatments and have to take public vehicles. Lucy Curci Cancer Center patients will continue to receive the finest care with high-performance equipment.”

"BIGHORN Behind a Miracle’s donation to Eisenhower Lucy Curci Cancer Center is astounding!  We appreciate that BAM tournament organizers decided to donate the proceeds locally to help our community,” says breast imaging specialist Deborah Rubin, MD, Board Certified Radiologist at Eisenhower Schnitzer/Novack Breast Center. “My colleagues at Eisenhower and I are so grateful for these funds, which allow us to have the best medical equipment in order to offer the finest, most state-of-the-art care to all of our patients.”

“The BIGHORN Behind A Miracle golf tournament proved to be exactly that…a true miracle.” shares Dunham.  “I am so proud to keep this money in the desert with Eisenhower’s first class facility and staff.  The generosity of the BIGHORN members, their guests and friends is truly extraordinary….without the enthusiasm and energy of so many volunteers and committee members, none of this would have been possible.” BIGHORN BAM kicked of with a Benefactor’s Party filled with incredible silent auction items and party sponsored by Sullivans, followed by a Cash for Caddies Pairings Party and the BAM Golf Tournament on April 23rd. The caddies donated their time and staff members gave countless hours to support this very worthy cause.

“I am so excited to give back to Eisenhower,” says Dunham, a breast cancer survivor of four years. “After all, they gave me my life.” In 2008, BIGHORN BAM raised $316,000 for Eisenhower and the group looks forward to next year’s event.  For more information please log onto www.bighornbam.com.
