Fashion enthusiasts came from around the country to celebrate opening night of Fashion Week El Paseo. Pacifica’s Fashion Runway Bar drew more than 500 guests, who relaxed in the tent’s Cambria lounge; enjoyed martinis, Fiji water, hors d’oeuvres from Fusion Five; and were awed by fashions and accessories from Angela Romeo Jewelry, Ambiente, bb One, Diane’s Beachwear, Dani C, InSantity, Jet Art, Josie’s Heart, KIR Jewelry, Mister Marcus, Neil’s on El Paseo, She She, Tommy Bahama, and Two Feathers Gallery.

Fashion Week El Paseo hosted an afternoon luncheon and fashion show presented by Fashion Group International®. FGI’s 15th annual fundraising luncheon featured an array of unique fashions from InSanity by Denise Roberge´. Uber chic designers such as Prayer, Christain Siriano, Chris Han, Iceberg and Ports 1961 were featured.

Fashion and Home Design Worlds Meet at the ASID Project Runway Event – March 24, 2009.

The American Society of Interior Designers had the fashion and interior design glitterati of the valley cheering for their Project Runway event. Interior designers created fashions from home décor materials such as wood veneer, curtains, wallpaper, and even chairs. After the runway show, guests bid on the dresses in a spirited auction.

Guests at El Paseo Fashion Week’s Wednesday night event got a glimpse in to the future of fashion. “West Coast Destiny” looked into the present and future of West Coast fashion as designers showcased their unique perspectives on fashion and accessory design. Designers Candice Held, Neely Shearer of Issho, Scarlet Chorvat and Alison Renner of Shimmi and jewelry designer Tarina Tarantino wowed the crowd with swimwear, scarf-inspired fashions and fantastic jewelry.

The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) Presents “Debut 2009” – March 26, 2009.

Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising made its Fashion Week El Paseo debut with a show created by its graduating design students. The designers were Brenda Ahamad, Mike Cheng, Natalie Hara, Sara E. Lighthall, Adrian Manuel, Lacey Osberg, Clay G. Sadler, Liz Sandhoefner, Charles Ryan Sands, Valentina Vardanyan, and Jonathan Webster.

Designer Jade Howe - Men's Fashion Show

Hailing from the Southern California skateboard/surfboard design houses, designer Jade Howe introduced his line of men’s wear that he calls “cowboy punk meets English country gentleman.” Interested in the “indie executive” — the “hard-playing, creative, and career-minded guy whose lifestyle has him on the move from his corner office to backstage within minutes” — Howe showed his collection on a night that benefited Desert AIDS Project.

Designer of the Week, Juan Carlos Obando

Fashion Week El Paseo marquee designer Juan Carlos Obando provided the drama on the final night. A wizard with pleating, Obando also showed off his tricks with knots, braids, and feathers. The young designer (he’s 31), acclaimed for his panache, delivered on his promise of a full extravaganza with the theme “The Siren Versus Hannibal.”

“Safari Sunday Brunch in the Tent with the Kids” is a big hit! – March 29, 2009.

Fashion Week El Paseo’s first children/teen fashion show had the good fortune to have students from Marywood/Palm Valley and Sacred Heart schools as its models. Before the runway show, guests enjoyed activities and refreshments. Attendees brought gently used children’s and women’s fashions that were donated to the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center and Jackie Lee’s Thrift Shop and Stroke Recovery Center.
