Sixty galleries from around the country will exhibit their artists’ best work Feb. 13-16, 2014, at the third annual Palm Springs Fine Art Fair (palmspringsfineartfair.com) at Palm Springs Convention Center.

In addition to art in all media, the fair will present a Lifetime Achievement Award to Jennifer Bartlett, whose work will appear at the fair in an exhibition curated by Imago Galleries of Palm Desert. She will also speak and answer questions about her paintings and career.

Bartlett, 72, a Long Beach native who earned an MFA at Yale University and established her practice in New York, is known for process-driven, grid-oriented paintings of houses and landscapes. Her large-scale works are in museum collections worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, and Palm Springs Art Museum. In previous years, the fair presented Lifetime Achievement Awards to Judy Chicago and Mel Ramos.

A VIP preview and reception on Feb. 13 will honor philanthropist Harold Matzner as the fair’s Art Patron of the Year. Matzner, a proponent of the event since its inception, serves as chairman emeritus of Palm Springs International Film Festival, chairman of McCallum Theatre, and vice president on the board of trustees at Palm Springs Art Museum, the beneficiary of the opening-night event.

The program includes a lecture and Q&A session with photographer Greg Gorman and a panel discussion and exhibition called Dry Heat: Three Artists in the California Desert, featuring Kim Stringfellow, Phillip K. Smith III, and Cristopher Cichocki. Other panels include Collecting 101 and Trends in Collecting Photography.
