Farewell, Lord of the Rings

Saturn has been in Leo since July 2005. It exits on Sept. 2, not to return until 2034. If you were born between 1938 and 1957, or if you are Scorpio, Taurus, Leo, or Aquarius, breathe a sigh of relief: You’re among at least 80 percent of the population that will be glad to see Saturn go. You have endured the challenging to downright difficult for between six and 30 months. Clean up, chin up: Here’s to a brighter future!

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Before Saturn leaves Leo on Sept. 2, clean up the debris of the past two years. Areas where you have avoided responsibility will be most problematic. Bite the bullet: Cut losses and make reparations where necessary. Reduce overhead and restructure by month’s end to avoid obstacles. Generosity is redemptive. Give.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

You are hemorrhaging self-confidence. Why do the loudest and most garish impress you? Empires crash and burn around you. Pay no attention; focus on work. More responsibility lies ahead. Prepare for obstacles, setbacks, and a golden opportunity to succeed.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Networking pays off. You are two phone calls away from whatever you want, the saying goes. Attend a group function or two that you would ordinarily skip. New connections will prove their worth by winter. Find your good in new situations.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Your forte is regeneration. Now you are able to breathe life into a plan that others shot down earlier this year. Though you may long for revenge, withhold your rage and be rewarded. Your day is coming. Recreate. Relax.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

This month culminates a cycle of healthy expansion. The key to success is your ability to recognize and jettison the rotten apple. A hard decision on your part will end any backward motion. Desire to be liked by everyone is weak. Be proud of enmity when you refuse to compromise the truth.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

It will soon be your turn. Meanwhile, make space this month to dream. Firm up your plans. We are deciders more than we are doers, and decision comes from a spiritual place — a confidence in our personal truth. A new vision is so near. Open your mind to receive.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

The pathways for partners appear retrograde, and there is nothing you can do. Let go of an important alliance in the most important place of all: your mind. Tend your own garden, putting most of your energy on self-improvement. A goal will become clear. Be patient and visualize.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Swamped with work, you have had no time for personal edification, and your image is a little scruffy. Spa days, wardrobe investments, and mental-health activities serve you best; you’re a race car at a pit stop. Don’t be tempted to promote someone above his or her ability based on loyalty (theirs or yours). Maintain the status quo a little longer.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Dream big this month. Take a fabulous trip, live large, go out and play. A long weekend and two tanks of gas can be magic. A few miles between you and the situation offer fresh perspective and some promising alternatives. Be ready to change your mind.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Worry robs today of its strength. Put your energy into activities that have nothing to do with past disappointments. Go out and have fun for the purpose of experiencing a joyful moment. If you feel separated from The Force, who moved? Regroup.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

“Don’t worry about the money and the money will come” was the theme of Napoleon Hill’s second book — the premise being that if you stay busy and have a goal, no matter how distant, your energy will create your abundance. Do not appear hungry, because in reality, you are not. The glass is half full. Have more faith.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Keep a spiritual mind this month. New data overwhelms; process slowly. Overhaul value systems to streamline new plans and adopt a mantra to decrease negative thinking. Visions are embryonic; give them space. Achieve a state of Zen at least once daily. Get away to revitalize.
