A line here, a wash of color there, these were the only tools used by watercolorist Maxine Boll-Hughes as she created this spectacular cover for our Annual Desert Living Issue. Note the economy of her work, how a few X-s can become snow-capped mountains and a splash of a desert date palm tree. In this world, a swimming pool can easily double as sunglasses and life is a joy indeed. One can only assume our cover model is reading Palm Springs Life!
