The Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals embossed Indio on the map several years ago.

Coachella Music and Arts Festival (www.coachella.com), which features popular genres, such as alternative rock, hip-hop, and electronica, draws huge crowds and sells out so fast that this year organizers added a second (identical) weekend. Taking place April 13-15 and April 20-22 at Empire Polo Grounds, Coachella’s headliners include The Black Keys, Radiohead, and Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg.

Stagecoach: California’s Country Music Festival (www.stagecoachfestival.com) rounds out the musical month (April 27-29). with headlining superstars Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton, and Alabama.
