C-SPAN Will Document Palm Springs History, Literary Life

Network will air stories during special Palm Springs weekend, June 1-2

C-SPAN will be coming to Palm Springs for a week-long visit to record and feature the city’s history and literary life.

The cable channel is expected to arrive May 6.

The stories will later be shown on non-fiction book channel BookTV (on C-SPAN2) and history channel American History TV (on C-SPAN3) during C-SPAN’s special Palm Springs weekend, June 1-2. C-SPAN is available in Palm Springs on Time Warner Cable channel 10.

In partnership with Time Warner Cable, C-SPAN’s 2013 Cities Tour has taken Book TV and American History TV on the road. C-SPAN2 and C-SPAN3 are featuring the literary life and history of each of these selected cities during special weekends on the public affairs network.

So far, the C-SPAN team has visited Santa Fe, NM; Albuquerque, NM, Alexandria, Va.; Mesa, Ariz.; Virginia Beach, Va.; Yuma, Ariz., and Columbia, S.C.

Working with Time Warner, C-SPAN’s producing team will take specially outfitted Local Content Vehicles into Palm Springs, visiting various literary and historic sites to interview local historians, authors and civic leaders over the week.
