George Noory Moderates Panel at Joshua Tree UFO Conference

Desert town creates perfect backdrop 'rich in history as a spiritual mecca'

George Noory, who hosts the late-night syndicated talk radio show, 'Coast to Coast AM', will appear at Contact in the Desert, Aug. 9-11, at the Joshua Tree Retreat Center.

Syndicated radio talk show host George Noory is not expecting an absolute answer.

But possibilities.

Noory, host of one of the most listened to radio shows in North America, “Coast to Coast AM”, will moderate the question, “Are we alone? The right to know,” during Contact in the Desert, Aug. 9-11, at the Joshua Tree Retreat Center. His radio show, which airs 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. PST Monday through Friday, often discusses UFOs, paranormal activity and other unexplained phenomena on more than 500 stations and heard by nearly 3 million listeners, according to Premiere Radio Network.

Contact in the Desert, featuring physicists, space defense consultants, educators, authors, international speakers and “UFOlogists”, will take an “academic look at the UFO phenomenon and how it has impacted the human race,” according to its website.

“I hope to come away from this convention with possibilities that we are not alone, hearing it first hand from heavy hitters devoted to careers trying to answer that question,” Noory says. “It will be fun and entertaining, but give a lot of information.”

More than 500 guests are expected to attend a series of lectures, panels, and workshops to “explore the scientific approach to the mythology of ancient aliens”. They are also open to the public.

Joshua Tree is the perfect setting for the conference, according to Barbara Harris, local historian and researcher of unusual and mysterious occurrences in the desert.

“It is a unique area rich in history as a spiritual mecca,” Harris says (pictured right). “I think that the extremes of the desert climate forces people to learn, to bend, be flexible, be more open-minded and available to experiences.”

Noory agrees the desert town’s “desolate and very private” characteristics are the perfect backdrop for events like the Perseid Meteor Shower expected to rise in the northeast sky around 11 p.m. Aug. 11.

“It will be neat to watch the shower without city lights,” Noory says. “I love the desert region.”

Noory doesn’t discount the possibility of something else coming out of the sky, perhaps answering that question once and for all

“It’s the perfect place for not only this gathering, but if there is E.T. contact I think they would prefer to do it in a minimally populated area,” says Noory, who adds he welcomes the opportunity to “get out from behind the radio” and visit with many of the experts invited to the conference.

Noory will give the welcome address at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 9, and speak at a paid luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 10. His panel features Roger Leir, William Henry, Michael Tellinger, Richard Dolan and James Gililand starting at 2 p.m. Aug. 10. In addition, a “George Noory Meet and Greet” will be held from 12:30 to 2:15 p.m. Aug. 11.

Harris will speak at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 9 on the “History of Giant Rock and the Integratron”. She will conduct guided tours to this famed “contact location” every evening from 7-9 p.m. For Tour reservations, email: magichistorytours@gmail.com or phone (760) 365-5646.
