This event occurs monthly, on the second Sunday of January, February, March, April, May, June and July.
The group for women writers at The Center has undergone a few changes! Formerly called the Lavender Desert Women's Writing Group, it has now dropped "Lavender" from its name and changed its schedule to the second Sunday of each month, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. (in time for brunch!). But the supportive nature of the group continues.
According to organizer Diane Evans, the Desert Womyn's Writing Group is intended as a working group where members write and share or just listen during the session. Laptops, tablets or simply paper and pen are invited, as are novice writers who seek some guidance for getting started. Currently, the group has one novel in progress, some short stories and children's books and several still-forming works.
This open group is for any lesbian or bisexual identified woman who wants to experience writing as a liberating step to unlocking her voice and to join with a community of other women who want to write. This is not necessarily a skills-building program, but there may occasionally be speakers to help group members move their writing forward. Members may also help each other transform personal experiences into shared knowledge, while finding deep enjoyment in sharing stories in the company of other women.
When: 2nd Sunday of each month, 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Where: The Center, 611 S. Palm Canyon Dr., Ste. #201, Palm Springs
