Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians  joins the HN & Frances C. Berger Foundation, Palm Springs Volvo and Wells Fargo as major sponsors of the 15th Annual Memorial Day Fair & Flower Drop on Monday, May 27, 2013 at the Palm Springs Air Museum, located at 745 N. Gene Autry Trail, Palm Springs, CA.

This year’s Flower Drop will again feature several flight exhibitions, a live remote by KNEWS, the Heat Wave Jazz Band, food vendors, face painting and the 82nd Airborne re-enactors. Forest Lawn Memorial Park returns as underwriter for the 3,000 carnations that will drop from a Mitchell B-25 Bomber, a World War II era aircraft. Other aircraft scheduled to fly starting at 10 am include the T-28, the P-63, the C-47 and the Stearman as well as the Missing Man formation flown by T-34s before the Memorial Day Ceremony.
 
New this year will be a Beer Garden for those age 21 and over with beer provided by Hangar 24. Additional sponsors for this season’s Commemorative Programs are Robert Borns, First Foundation, Jim Houston, Fred Noble and the City of Rancho Mirage.
 
The flower drop honors and memorializes all veterans who lost their lives defending the United States.  The white carnations are in honor of those who fought prior to and in WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam.  The red carnations are in honor of those who died in more recent conflicts including the Persian Gulf, Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan.   Events are included with regular admission to the museum which ranges from $8 to $15.
