Love Ta Dance is Back At The Palm Desert YMCA

East Coast Swing, the Foxtrot, and the Tango will be among the ballroom dance styles presented in the upcoming class session being offered at the Palm Desert YMCA. Classes will take place every Tuesday afternoon for ten weeks, from 2:30 – 3:30pm, at the Palm Desert YMCA, located at 43-930 San Pablo Avenue in Palm Desert.  The first class will be held on Tuesday, October 13th and will run through Tuesday, December 15th.    Anyone aged 12 and above is welcome to participate.

** A special preview / introductory class will be offered for free on Tuesday, October 6th from 2:30 – 3:30pm for anyone interested or considering enrolling for the full session. Interested participants should call the Palm Desert YMCA at 760-341-9622 in advance to reserve space.**

Instruction will be provided by Bob and Nancy Horn, who are known for their “Fred and Ginger” technique.  The Horns perform on cruise ships, and they are the founders of “Red Hot Ballroom, Inc.”, a 501 (c) (3) here in the Coachella Valley to work with schools to produce student dance competitions.

Registrations are taking place through Thursday, October 8th, at the Palm Desert YMCA membership services counter.  Enrollment by the deadline is encouraged, however, registrations may be accepted up until the first class session on October 13th if space allows. Participants must sign up for the entire ten week session.  Students may bring their own partners, or they may attend by themselves to be paired with a partner in class. 

Session fees are $100 per person for the entire ten weeks.

Ballroom dancing offers physical activity, social interaction, and mental stimulation.  Health benefits include increased muscle tone, improvement of the cardiovascular system, and burning calories which leads to weight loss.  As a low impact aerobic activity, dance also increases flexibility, strength, and balance.   Other positive results are realized, such as confidence, self-expression, relaxation, an enhanced social life, and fun.
