Artists on the Edge

Karen and Tony Barone

Karen and Tony Barone

The University of California, Riverside, Palm Desert campus opened its cultural offerings this season with the exhibition Catalysts: Eight Artist on the San Andreas. The show, curated by local artists Karen and Tony Barone and Kimberly Nichols, looks at eight regional artists whose works explore tension through technical, environmental, material, humorous, or conceptual ways.

Participants, in addition to Nichols and the Barones, include painter Kim Chasen, multimedia artist Cristopher Cichocki, modernist sculptor Christopher Georgesco, sculptor John Neumann, painter and multimedia artist Richard Twedt, and assemblage artist William Schinsky.

“UC Riverside’s Palm Desert plays an active role in bringing adventurous art and culture to the Coachella Valley,” says Jonathan Green, executive director of UCR ARTSblock.”

UCR Palm Desert Campus is located at 75080 Frank Sinatra Drive. Call 1-760-834-0800 or visit www.palmdesert.ucr.edu for more information.
