Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

If you are searching for a special dining experience over the Christmas and New Year’s holiday season, perhaps you should look up.

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway offers special holiday menus and hours to diners ready to ascend to 8,500 feet to experience some holiday cheer.

All is merry and bright. (From left) Celebrity tree lighter Jack Jones with wife, Eleonora, and Tram board members Michael McCulloch, Nancy J. Stuart, Bary Freet, Jan Oliphant and Jerry Ogburne.

With Santa scheduled to appear Dec. 20, a trip to the top of the tram to visit Pines Café or Peaks Restaurant should make your “nice list” of things to do with friends and family this year. And…word has it there is some cold, white stuff to boot.

Ride & Dine at Pines Café

Pines Café will be open for a special Holiday Ride & Dine menu offered buffet style from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Christmas and New Year’s days. The special buffet-style menu will include spinach salad, and an entrée choice of slow-roasted turkey, honey-glazed ham or vegetarian lasagna with a choice of traditional holiday trimmings like mashed potatoes, candied carrots, stuffing and cranberry sauce.

The tram will open early on these days beginning at 8:30 a.m. to head up and enjoy some hiking or photo opportunities. Combination tickets are priced at $36 for adults and $23.50 for kids, ages 3-12.

Peaks Restaurant

Merry menu offerings and festive décor at Peaks Restaurant at the top of the Tram create holiday magic.

Peaks Restaurant offers a “high-end” dining experience for the holidays on Christmas and New Year’s Days from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. A set menu includes an appetizer course of either Split Pea & Ham soup or Baby Spinach Salad.

Entrée is Roasted Prime Rib with horseradish and mashed potatoes. Choose Crème Brulee, German Chocolate cheesecake or Vanilla Custard Bread pudding for dessert. Cost is $49.95 per person.

Or, order from the newly created Winter Dining menu a la carte.
