I live in the desert for almost 8 years, and discovered the restaurant " Chez Pierre" only a couple months ago. Not only are served like you will be served in an upscale restaurant on the Champs Elysees in Paris, with class, knowledge but the food Pierre is serving is as good as the best restaurants in Paris. You arrive and immediately you receive a terrine with a delicious pate home made assorted with several types of bread. You can have haring with cold potatoes and vinaigrette, dish of several types of charcuterie, foie gras ( the real deal not an imitation ) escargots, etc. Being French I like in entree his "choucroute" sauerkraut with an assortment of different meats ( to die for, the best sauerkraut I ever eat( better than the German ones) he has also other delicious plates: veal kidneys, moules marinieres, osso bucco, kalfs liver, in one word dishes you can't find in the USA. He has his organic wine, La Vieille ferme, which will be a very good companion to all this. The deserts: tarte tatin, beignets. At the end you will have enjoyed a "real" French restaurant" for maximum 50 bucks a head wine included.
Pierre and Esther are wonderful hosts, and when you know them better, they give you before to leave, a terrine of duck pate, a bottle of home made vinegar. The last time I went he gave me a complete portion sauerkraut to eat for breakfast he said !
I went to many restaurants here in the desert, never I had such a great experience, of course you have to love the real French Restaurant food.
" Chez Pierre" there is no chichi and tra lala, only a fantastic ambiance, excellent food, that will invite you to come back very soon. My name is Gerard Van Weyenbergh, and really want to thank Pierre and Esther for all these wonderful dinners.
