Description:

Four-Star Cuisine For All Occasions

By Pamela Bieri

The name Spencer's is synonymous with Palm Springs’ classic style. Its awe-inspiring location at the foot of Mount San Jacinto has retained an historically significant midcentury charm inside and out. The ambiance offers stylish elegance and comfortable informality. The air-cooled, tree-shaded patio is legendary and its stunning surroundings are matched by culinary excellence. Spencer’s is this year’s winner of Best Outdoor Dining, Best Brunch, Best Continental (American) Restaurant, and Best Caterer, and is the only Palm Springs restaurant to win the prestigious Wine Spectator “Best of Award of Excellence” for its extensive wine cellar. Named after owner Harold Matzner’s award-winning 110-pound Siberian husky, Spencer’s is very pet-friendly.

A seasoned culinary staff led by Restaurant Manager Julieta Quinn aims to please guests with contemporary and classic cuisine that customers have come to cherish. Spencer’s is very well known for its expansive menu.

Just as in the midcentury era when the likes of Frank Sinatra and his “Rat Pack,” and other Hollywood celebrities frequented the Tennis Club, Spencer’s is still “the” place to see and be seen for lunch, where power brokers make deals while visitors soak up the atmosphere. Sunday brunch is a sumptuous experience. When the sun goes down, Spencer’s transforms into a sensual delight, perfect for a romantic dinner or special celebration with a choice of dramatic outdoor views or interior tables surrounded by understated elegance.

Perched on the mountainside overlooking the valley, the historic Bougainvillea Room, with its unique architecture and club-like atmosphere, is an unmatched setting for events up to 250 people. Wrapped with two walls of picture windows, the room overlooks two outdoor grassy bluffs, the resort’s pool and grounds, and a spectacular mountainside waterfall. Water even flows inside the room’s own rock pool.

The Bougainvillea Room is also legendary for special catered events. Catering by Spencer’s also takes the restaurant’s acclaim to any location, providing perfectly executed cuisine and service for weddings and events of any size.

Breakfast is served daily from 8 a.m., lunch from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and dinner nightly from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday brunch is from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Enjoy live piano music throughout the day and evening.

Reservations are recommended for dinner. Valet parking is available.
