Michael Holmes of "The Judy Show" will act as master of ceremonies for the second annual Red Dress Party on March 2 at the Sand Acre Estate in the Movie Colony neighborhood of Palm Springs.

Tickets for the event, set for 7-10 p.m., are on sale with proceeds benefiting the LGBT Community Center of the Desert. Tickets for members of The Center are $75, and $85 for the general public. Last year’s event was a sell-out. Dress for the evening is "Style Optional, Red Required."

“The Red Dress Party provides an opportunity for our membership, donors, plus community members to get together and have a great time while supporting a good cause,” said Randy Lowe, board chairman. “Funds raised through the event will be used to support direct services to the community, including low-cost counseling, a weekly food bank, and over 40 educational and enrichment programs.”

Guest judges for the Fashion Walk and "Best of" contest include: CBS Local 2’s Jenifer Daniels, 94.3 K News’ Bill “Bulldog” Feingold, Project Runway finalist Michael Costello, and philanthropist Donna MacMillan. Contest categories include Couture, Sexiest, Outrageous, Entourage and Best Marilyn.

Based on a nation-wide event concept that raises awareness, wearing of a red dress, regardless of age, gender, or sexual orientation, serves as a symbol of solidarity with people who have been ostracized at some point, according to Gary Costa, interim executive director of The Center.
