Thursday, Feb. 7
3 p.m.: The Palm Springs Walk of Stars will honor Coachella Valley humanitarian and philanthropist, Annette Bloch, at 110 N. Palm Canyon Drive.

4 p.m.: Celebrating Black History month, view the work of internationally acclaimed artist Charles Bibbs and San Francisco artist Jeff Ingram at The Palm Springs Art Museum. Free admission. Runs 4-7 p.m.

6 p.m.: The 1960s produced some amazing music, and "SUDS" helps celebrate that along with a fun plot of a girl and her two guardian angels who teach her all about boys and true love at The Annenberg Theater. Runs Feb. 7-17. Show times are either 7:30 or 2 p.m. depending on the day. Consult the schedule.

8 p.m.: Staying in the 1960s mode, McCallum Theatre offers "Rain": A Tribute to The Beatles (pictured right). Hear all of their timeless hits.

Dinner suggestion: Ruben and Ozzy's Oyster Bar & Grill, 241 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, in downtown Palm Springs. Try their famous fish tacos.

Friday, Feb. 8
9 a.m. to 2 p.m.: The sixth annual Go Red for Women Luncheon features educational sessions, a silent auction and live music before the noon luncheon at Westin Mission Hills Resort in Rancho Mirage.

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: This free event sponsored by Pete Carlson's Golf & Tennis brings duffers up to speed on the latest equipment, free instructional clinics including one by legend Al Geiberger, at the College of the Desert Golf Center in Palm Desert. Runs again on Saturday.

10 a.m.: Palm Springs' 75th anniversary comes alive visually in this art show by The Desert Arc from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

3:30 p.m.: Cheer on these dedicated athletes. The opening ceremonies of the Palm Desert Senior Games is set for the Palm Desert Civic Center Park Amphitheater. Competition runs Feb. 7-10 at various sites; consult the schedule.

7-10 p.m.: The opening reception for the Palm Springs Winter Classic Softball Tournament will be held at Hunter's Video Bar, 302 E. Arenas Road, in Palm Springs. Competition runs Saturday and Sunday featuring 80 teams in various divisions of play and hundreds of players from the LGBT community.

8 p.m.: Rock out to 1980s band STYX (pictured above), born and bred in Chicago. See them at The Pechanga Casino Resort in Temecula.

Dinner suggestion: Tacos and Tequila or Natural 9 Noodle Company at the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon.

Saturday, Feb. 9
10 a.m.: Dust off that tiara and put on your tutu. Your kids are going to love this fairytale dream come true at The Living Desert. Join Freddy the Frog and his princess friends for a fun day of activities. Free with the price of admission.

2 p.m.: Go take a hike. Seriously. Learn the best hike venues, breath-taking views, equipment, you name it. The presentation by expert Philip Ferranti is at the Palm Desert campus of Cal State San Bernardino, 37-500 Cook St.

5 p.m.: Recently the personal chef to Betty Ford, Janet Ebright leads a cooking class at The Savory Spice Ship on El Paseo in Palm Desert. $20 per person.

5:30 p.m.: Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson (pictured right) hosts the 19th annual Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

6:30 p.m.: The St. Garabed Armenian Apostolic Church of the Desert will host its its first-ever Mardi Gras-themed Masquerade Ball featuring live music, a three-course buffet, a no-host bar and variety of casino games. The church is located at 38-905 Monterey Drive in Rancho Mirage.

8 p.m.: Itzhak Perlman, the legendary violinist, makes an appearance at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert.

Dinner suggestion: Couples' four-course menu for two at Roy's Restaurant in Rancho Mirage.

Sunday, Feb. 10
9 a.m.: From Desert Contemporary to Italian-style homes, the 12th annual Discovery Home Tour will provide a great cross-section of Coachella Valley architecture. Proceeds benefit the Children's Discovery Museum.

2:30 p.m.: Hum along with the Johnny Cash songs you grew up with like "I Walk the Line" and "Folsom Prison". See "Johnny Cash: The Man, The Music, The Memory". Runs Feb 8-10 and 15-16 at the Indio Performing Arts Center.

6:30-9 p.m.: OperaArts Palm Springs honors opera legend Barbara Smith Conrad (pictured left) and provides beautiful opera singing for guests to enjoy, including a possible song by Barbara herself, at the Renaissance Esmeralda Hotel & Spa in Rancho Mirage.

Brunch suggestion: The Kaiser Grille in downtown Palm Springs serves from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Keeping the Past Alive
View the work of Cathedral City artists like Peter Palladino, whose celebrity portrait collection includes Stevie Wonder, Cindy Crawford, Frenchie Davis and Michael York, as part of the "Working Artists Tour" from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The concept dates back to the 1930s when the original developers of the city designated Cathedral Cove as an "artist retreat". Sign-in center is located at 68727 E. Palm Canyon Drive and Highway 111, across from Trilussa Restaurant. Admission is $15 per person.
