As flocks of modernistas converge on Palm Springs starting Feb. 12 for Modernism Week, even the accommodations often exude the midcentury modern vibe.

Century Palm Springs, located in the tranquil Warm Sands district, was originally designed by William Krisel as an apartment building and built by George and Robert Alexander, the team who transformed entire neighborhoods of Palm Springs into temples of midcentury modern architecture.

The pool area provides a perfect view of the San Jacinto mountains.

Since its inception in 1955, Century Palm Springs went through a substantial renovation in 2004 that transformed the property into a unique, private compound with six king rooms, and king suites with full kitchens and private patios. The Century Room, often used for private parties, offers an extensive continental breakfast to guests.

Marked by single-story, open floor patterns, their designs allowed interiors and exteriors to blend effortlessly, increasing overall “living space” to take advantage of the desert weather.

The Junior Suite has a full kitchen and plenty of decorative touches

“We have a great vibe, establish friendships with guests, and want them to be comfortable,” says John Marin, assistant manager. “They come for the quiet, to relax in an exclusive, polite atmosphere."

Walk through the gate and you're transported to a sparkling pool and spa in a Jetsons-like atmosphere. Unrestricted views of the San Joaquin mountains and gorgeous palm trees provide beautiful scenery. Have a swim, and enjoy no worry about tan lines in those sections of the pool and spa area designated clothing optional.

Sun dapples the interior of a Deluxe King room.

Pets are also allowed. “"We allow dogs. We treat everyone equal here, humans and animals,” says Marin, with a smile.

Egyptian cotton sheets, chiropedic beds, Keurig coffee makers and waffle piquet robes are found in every room.

Breakfast is served in the Century Room.

Cool tile designs, sleek minimalist looks and angles make shower time restful, rejuvenating you for Modernism Week's iconic home tours, films, lectures, garden tours, vintage fashion and trailer shows, store parties, the Double Decker Architectural Bus Tour and much more.
