Before Bill Haas walked away with the championship of the 2015 Humana Challenge, one of professional golf’s top players took to the fairways at Toscana Country Club.
Haaa was joined on Jan. 15 by John Merrick, Nicole Castrale, Jay Haas, Ian-Baker Finch, Juli Inskter and Bill Harmon while raising money for the Toscana Employee Scholarship Fund.
Members first had the opportunity to bid to caddie for the player, and the event paired the players for a fun nine-hole match. The caddies and players interacted with the crowd of members and guests following the match, which also included a caddie auction and donations to raise money for the fund.
The Toscana Employee Scholarship Fund provides college scholarships for Toscana employees or children of employees. For the 2014-2015 school year, the fund provided $96,500 in scholarships to 28 deserving students.
Students are pursuing degrees locally at College of the Desert and University of California Riverside, and as far away as Portland State University and Miami University.
