Where to Watch Super Bowl 2014 in Palm Springs Area

There's even an event Feb. 2 for non-football fans

The first cold weather Super Bowl will take pace Feb. 2 at the new MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

There is still a little over a week of hype to go, but surely you already know where you’ll be watching the Super Bow, right?

No?

Then check out these options where everything is taken care of from food to libations on Feb. 2 to ensure the only thing you have to do is enjoy the game between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks.

Game time is 3:30 p.m. on the west coast. (6:30 p.m. in New Jersey).

Here in no special order are Palm Springs area establishments with Super Bowl plans. Some ask for you to make a reservation, so better not wait.

Tilted Kilt in Palm Desert is selling tickets for its Super Bowl Night with doors opening at 2 p.m. There will prize giveaways including a chance to win a 2014 Cadillac CTS from La Quinta Chevrolet Cadillac. Chow down on BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, wings, nachos, chili and pasta, plus drink specials.

• View the game at the Village Pub in downtown Palm Springs. There are more than 20 flat screen TVs including an 80-inch screen. Their dinner menu includes party starters ranging from fried pot stickers to jalapeno poppers, salads, Shepherd’s Pie, pizza, burgers and tacos.

Dickie O’Neal’s in Palm Springs is hosting a private Super Bowl party running 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $85 apiece before Feb. 2 and $100 on game day. The day begins with a Breakfast Tailgate party from 8-11 a.m. with an all-you-can-eat buffet followed by an 11 a.m. pre-game lunch feast and supper at 4 p.m. The supper features unlimited trips to a Roast Beef Buffet or an oven-roasted turkey dinner.

Ernie’s Bar & Grill at PGA West in La Quinta will serve up all the fixings and drink specials for the big game. Reserve a spot online on Opentable.com, or call 760-564-7125.

Beer Hunter in La Quinta has more than 40 HDTV’s available to watch the game. There are plenty of choices in the way of beers (more than 200), and great munchie food like fried green beans, Mac ‘n Cheese bites, chicken egg roll and mini beef ‘n bean burritos. For information, call 760-564-7442.

• You’ll never feel better about being in Palm Springs and 70-plus degree temps than watching the Super Bowl naked. Compared to the freezing cold Super Bowl fans will brave in New Jersey, the Desert Sun Resort in Palm Springs offers a special Super Bowl room rate. No need to worry about driving home after the game.

• Not to be outdone, Terra Cotta Inn in Palm Springs is also offering a special Super Bowl room rate for its Super Bowl Nude Party. Free to hotel guests, the party includes a spread with homemade pizzas, drinks and pools to plunge into at halftime.

Tacos & Tequila at Morongo Casino, Resort and Spa has put together a football fiesta featuring menu items at $5, $6 and $7 menu items like beef and chicken flautas, fiesta nachos, Habanero chicken wings and a taco combo while watching the game on high-def TVs.

The Spa Resort Casino in Palm Springs wins the prize for the biggest TV, 156-inches, while you munch on a buffet and specially priced drinks.

Not a football fan?

If the Super Bowl doesn’t catch your attention simply by the commercials, how about singing to the movie, The Sound of Music, at McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert with hundreds of fans of this classic movie starting at 2 p.m. Feb. 2?

You’re also encouraged to come in costume, so dust off your lederhosen and take your place on stage. This sing-a-long event has played around the world.
