Every night of the week, bars across the Coachella Valley get creative with their events calendar. Some have hosted the same weekly events for years, forming a community of regulars who convivially welcome newcomers into the fold.
Not to be confused with happy hours, of which there are many good ones, these weekly events infuse an interactive component to their nightly scene. For those interested in doing something when they drink other than just hold a glass, check out these weekly highlights.

Amigo Room at The ACE: Trivia Mondays, Karaoke Tuesdays
Guests and locals alike know the ACE rocks one of the fullest and most varied events calendars in town. From poolside DJ parties and dance parties with drum circles to courtyard movie screenings, live bands, and acoustic musicians, there’s rarely a quiet night. The cool, cave-like Amigo Room doles out prizes on Monday’s trivia nights at 9 p.m., which follows bingo at King’s Highway Restaurant at 7 p.m. Bossy diva Bella da Ball presides over both. Tuesdays night karaoke with Keisha at 9 p.m. has its own cult following.

Bar: Industry Night Mondays, Whiskey Wednesdays, Patio Weekends
Flash an ID with a local address and then revel in happy hour prices on food and drink all night long on Mondays at this edgy, purposefully divey bar that blends a pizza-and-starters menu with old-school cocktails, dancing, and a patio. Whiskey Wednesdays celebrates hump day with $2 off whiskey and a weekly specialty whiskey cocktail. The backyard patio doubles the possibilities when it opens Thursdays through Saturdays. Bring your A game for ping pong, bocce, and cornhole with food and drink service.

El Jefe at the Saguaro: Taco Tuesdays
Now four years running, Palm Springs’ original Taco Tuesday hunkers down in the roadside cantina ambiance of El Jefe at the Saguaro Palm Springs. With recipes inspired by the street foods of Mexico City, El Jefe offers tacos at $2 each with $4 draft beers and $5 house margaritas to wash them down.

Hard Rock Palm Springs: Pool Party Saturdays and Sundays
DJ Paparazzi wakes up the weekend starting at 11 a.m., dropping poolside beats. Through 4 p.m. the music flows like the booze. Call ahead to rent a daybed or cabnana for the full V.I.P. treatment. Some days are free; some are $10 for a pool day pass.

The Hood Bar & Pizza: $100 Prize Beer Pong Wednesdays and Sundays
The price of beer buys you a chance to win $100 during the twice-weekly beer pong tournament. Sign up on arrival (9 p.m. on Wednesdays; 8 p.m. on Sundays) for some fierce competition at this rough-and-tumble dive bar palace of live music, billiards, and pizza.

The occasional at some bars is a nightly rite of passage at Neil’s. Schmidy’s Tavern: Karaoke Mondays and Tuesdays, Open Mic Thursdays

Though a bit light on tiki culture and heavy on the gay cocktail bar and dance club vibe, everyone is welcome at Sunday’s two drag shows. Tommi Rose & the Playgirls shake it for tips at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tickets are $10.
