The timing is certainly good.

Not only is the “Summer School: Poolside Art Workshops & Music” on July 27 the first appearance by indie dance band, Body Parts, in the desert at the Ace Hotel and Swim Club in Palm Springs, it comes on the heels of the release of their first single, “Desperation”, on July 24.

School Night LA and the Ace Hotel and Swim Club have brought back the “Summer School” concept for a three-day stay, July 26-28. There will be workshops by Michelle Valigura, Marcelo Gomes, Kayla Mattes, and Kozyndan along with DJs and bands curated by School Night Los Angeles.

For its concert, Body Parts will stage an experimental pop experience geared to engage its audience.

“We have fun music and we want our desert audience to be happy and dance or maybe even learn something about themselves,” says Ryder Bach, singer and songwriter for Body Parts. “We want our music to create a bold visceral reaction. Whether positive, negative, ambiguous, or confusing, our music should move you.”

Bach is thrilled with the timing of the band’s gig and release of its first single.

“This is an exciting time and a great opportunity,” Bach says. “The producers of this event combine different artistic mediums and it’s known as a great breeding ground for various performers and genres from Southern California. And for Body Parts, playing poolside in Palm Springs is as good as it can be.”

“Summer School” attendees will also receive a taste of Body Parts’ anticipated first album, “Fire Dream”. The album will be available in October under San Francisco label Father/Daughter Records.

According to Bach, “the album highlights the bands’ approach to pop music, bringing a perspective that is at times content heavy with some complicated arrangements."

All hands-on workshops are included with a guest room stay or with the purchase of a day pass to the Ace Hotel and Swim Club ($20 at the front desk, includes gym, pool and all day workshops). Special room rates apply with 15 percent off using code: SCHOOL.
