The “Forever Marilyn” statue may be leaving in September, but Palm Springs is not about to let go without a proper send-off.

P.S. Resorts is giving everyone – literally – a chance to participate in the “Forever Marilyn Look-A-Like Contest” at 7 p.m. Aug. 1 at Village Fest at Forever Marilyn Park.

Registration is required by July 30 at forevermarilynpslookalike.eventbrite.com

The contest to honor the late Marilyn Monroe is open to adults, kids, babies, pets and professional entertainers with winners crowned in each category. The infamous Bella da Ball will host the event.

The categories include:

• Pets
• Miss Junior Marilyn (under age 16)
• Ms./Mrs. Marilyn (over age 16)
• Drag Marilyn
• Performing Marilyn

Four judges will select the winners, scoring the contestants on look/attire, presentation, personality, audience response, and overall Marilyn look and feel.

The contest is open to the first 10 entries in each category and contestants may only enter one category. The Best Marilyn performer category is open to contestants who lip synch or perform live.

Contestants will be introduced by Bella da Ball and asked to walk across the stage for our judges’ review and audience applause. Performing Marilyn’s must sing or lip synch one Marilyn Monroe song of up to 3 minutes.

Contestants under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult and all pets must be on a leash.

The pre-pageant festivities begin with live entertainment at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. There will also be a special performance by local Marilyn impersonator Cat Lyn Day.
