When Four Feet are Better Than Two

Dancing has been around since the first caveman swung his cave-mate around the fire to the steady beat of banging bones. Ballroom dancing originated in England during the late 18th and early 19th centuries when the elite engaged in waltzes and other dances at balls and parties. In Latin America, where they do things with a little more spice, lovers flirted to the seductive tango and sexy merengue.
Over the years, the popularity of ballroom dancing has waxed and waned, losing steam in the ’60s when it was deemed old-fashioned and patently uncool. Since then it has steadily drawn followers of all ages and classes, propelled by TV shows such as Dancing with the Stars and DanceSport competitions.
