Life of the Party
Hire a DJ and elevate the status of your event
Party maestro, DJ Folk, (shown here with frequent collaborator and four-time Grammy Award-nominee Young Jeezy) is the man behind many hip-hop artists’ signature sounds. He has built a successful career spinning at fetes around the world for a select clientele of celebrities, tastemakers, and other notable figures.

A successful party begins and ends with the DJ. We control the tempo, the mood, and how partygoers react. We all remember one party after which we thought, “I absolutely had a blast and need to do that again.”
I have been controlling these moods for more than a decade, and have made people move on dance floors from coast to coast, country to country. Follow my three tips for hiring the best DJ for your desert summer party.
The DJ Whether you have 10 or 2,500 people at an event, the music sets the tone. A master DJ recognizes the reactions of people to certain records and adjusts the mood accordingly. When a record doesn’t grab the crowd within 25 to 30 seconds, the DJ should be prepared to switch it up. If you attend an event with great music, do yourself a favor and get the DJ’s contact information. Most DJs carry business cards or are active in the world of social media.
The Venue This is as essential as the DJ. Everything from the staff, the location, the capacity, the adult beverages, and the sound system can really make or break the atmosphere. People shy away from parties at lackluster venues. Although a skilled DJ will adapt to the parameters of most venues, we aren’t miracle workers.
The Guest List Every legendary event needs the partygoers’ energy to sustain the vibe. The energy will always determine the lifeline of your party, so choose guests who will add value to the room, or spark conversation the next day Also, make sure your DJ and guests are a good match.
