The Cha Cha - June 2013
Bloch Cancer Survivors Park
Two friends. Two opinions. Desert Guide contributor Nick Marcucci and Editor Ebony March discuss their favorite happenings and places in the Coachella Valley. We call their dance … The Cha Cha.
Ebony: Palm Springs is known for its awesome vintage shops.
Nick: And its vintage people.
Ebony: So true. There’s a great vintage clothing store called the Frippery. (457 N. Palm Canyon Dr., Palm Springs. 760-861-9747).
Nick: Weren’t they recently at Coachella?
Ebony: Yeah, they had a pop-up shop there. What’s interesting is that the Frippery carries one-of-a-kind looks that you’re not going to find in chain stores.
Nick: I’m looking at the website right now. I see a lot of cool looks. I think it’s great to find a girl who’s in the know with her individuality.
Ebony: Oh really? You’re kind of sweet-talking me in my good ear. A great place to rock your new vintage finds is at Cancer Survivor Beauty and Support Day, an all-volunteer event for male, female, and juvenile cancer survivors.
Nick: What an awesome way to celebrate life in Palm Springs.
Ebony: Not only in Palm Springs. It’s in all 50 states. Survivors can partake in a free day of beauty donated by folks in the industry. It’s held on the first Tuesday in June — that would be June 4.
Nick: Travel to Bloch Cancer Survivors Park in Rancho Mirage for some quiet meditation on your way to your appointment.
Ebony: Wow, look at you! You’re my new favorite cancer guru.
