Make it!

Take a cue from an expert.

Award-winning mixologist Zane Tessay of Workshop Kitchen + Bar has created a refreshingly delicious cocktail exclusively for The Guide: The D Wexler.

The name pays homage to renowned desert modernist architect Donald Wexler.

“I was inspired by the photos of the [Wexler-designed] Dinah Shore House,” Tessay says.

The drink’s main ingredient, No. 209 Barrel Reserve Sauvignon Blanc gin, was picked because it’s produced in Tessay’s own hometown of San Francisco and because “it’s aged in a sauvignon blanc barrel, which gives it a beautiful flavor of citrus and sweetness with a hint of spice and juniper,” he says.

As for the basil and cucumber, Tessay says, “What screams refreshing more? I added just a hint of peppercorn to bring out the spice notes from the gin and finished off with our housemade ginger beer to balance out the drink with sweetness and a little fizz.”

Enjoy!
