The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians matched a $2,000 donation made by dealers at Spa Resort Casino to the Boys and Girls Club of Palm Springs. The Agua Caliente tribe offered to match the funds upon hearing of the donation of $2,000 in tips by table games dealers who work at its casino in downtown Palm Springs. The Boys and Girls Club received $4,000 in a donation ceremony on March 6.

“We are so proud of our team members and their sense of community,” said Jeff Grubbe, Vice-Chairman of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians. “We are pleased to double their efforts to show our appreciation for the generosity of these table games dealers.”

The table games dealers, who deal everything from blackjack to three card poker at Spa Resort Casino, voted to donate the money to the Boys and Girls Club, saying they wanted to give back to the community.

“We made a similar donation to the kids a few years ago, and it was absolutely heart-warming. We decided we had to do it again,” said Chrissy Farley, a dealer who has been with the casino since March, 2001.

Domenic Mancini, director of table games for Spa Resort Casino and sister property Agua Caliente Casino Resort • Casino • Spa agreed the donation makes everyone happy, “The team wanted to do it and the kids need it,” he said. “There’s nothing better than knowing you’re giving back to your neighbors.”

The Boys and Girls Club of Palm Springs

The Boys and Girls Club of Palm Springs is an after-school program (September through May) that gives children a safe and positive environment in which to channel their energies at a time when they are most susceptible to negative influences: after school, before a parent returns from work. The kids are able to participate in activities according to their needs and interests. Supervision and guidance are provided in each area by the organization’s professionally trained staff. 450 S.
