Born to mix and spin, DJ Day is a local boy. His face may be familiar — he was selected as one of Palm Springs Life’s 40 Under 40 last year in recognition of his contribution to the desert nightlife scene.

The clever moniker Reunion defines this “school night” hot spot, where DJ Day’s deejay friends drop in for a spin or two on regular basis.

“The goal for me was to make it a "Cheers" environment. It's not just about dancing or partying; it’s a place for people to connect each week and know this is their house.

Regulars know that Day can really move the crowd with his eclectic choice of songs. Some nights, older hipsters will enjoy the nostalgia of yacht rock (soft rock from the late 70s and early 80s), while the young ones may embark on a musical journey into decades they’ve only dreamed about.

“Think Steely Dan, Michael McDonald, Christopher Cross,” DJ Day says. "What A Fool Believes" would probably be the quintessential "Yacht Rock" song. We thought it would be fun to throw a party centered on that theme. Plus, it gives me an excuse to wear my ascot.”

The intimate and retro active Amigo Room at Ace is an ideal venue for Reunion says DJ Day. “It’s inclusive and comfortable and welcomes a wide variety of people each week. The Ace has been a dream come true for me artistically. They give me the freedom to stretch out. we have a great core group of regulars who are open to exploring new music.”

What you’ll hear at Reunion is musically referred to as “open format,” according to DJ Day. “We tend to play a lot of soul, funk, disco and classic hip hop, but we also have monthly guests and theme nights that bring a totally unique vibe to the night.”
