Green beer. Corned beef and cabbage. Donning green garb.

That's what St. Patrick's Day is all about, right?

From a celebratory point, yes.

But St. Patrick's Day is historically a commemoration of the patron saint of Ireland on March 17. Patrick was born in England, but was a missionary in Ireland. He reportedly died on March 17.

What started out as a religious holiday became a celebration thanks to Irish Americans. The first St. Patrick's Day parade took place in 1762 in New York.

So here's to us, who know how to throw a good party. Check out these suggestions on where to enjoy some blarneyin the Greater Palm Springs area.
