Michael Costello held court as Saxony Fashion Week El Paseo 2015’s reigning king of couture, inviting the public to get up close and personal at his special trunk show March 26.

Still basking in the warm reception he received after debuting his latest collection in his hometown, Costello and his team busily worked with customers seeking private fittings with the designer.

An intimate salon setting was staged under The Big White Tent so that guests could engage with other interested shoppers, grab refreshments, and relax in a cozy lounge area while waiting to spend time with Costello in the VIP changing area.

Many attendees also took the opportunity to snap photos in front of the exhibit of stunning couture gowns seen on celebrity musical artists such as Arianna Grande and Beyoncé. The gowns, designed by Costello, will be on display at The Grammy Museum in May.

While measurements could be taken for custom creations, the trunk show focused on inventory from his ready-to-wear line inspired by the Palm Springs resort lifestyle .

Sexy, strong, and beautiful, Costello’s pieces honored the female form. Stretch jersey caftans patterned in subtle earth tones and halter dresses in rich emerald greens, blues, and whites were available for purchase — the perfect choices for poolside entertaining and high-end social gatherings under the setting sun.

Costello’s gold belts were also hot sellers. Designed like mid-waist “cuffs,” the gold bar accents made for bold statements and a chic wardrobe staple.

Costello also debuted his menswear at Fashion Week El Paseo to rave reviews. His bow ties, on hand at the trunk show, lined the counters of his boutique. In similar fashion to his cuff belts, each bow was fastened at the center with a small metal “bar” featuring his initials.

Some of the silver, gold, and rose gold bars held small gem accents. Available in a variety of colors and fabrics, including silk and crêpe, these ties have been seen on the red carpet, and it’s been rumored that a certain celebrity has commissioned a rendition with real diamonds.

Saxony Group Fashion Week El Paseo, a Palm Springs Life event, continues through March 28 under The Big White Tent on Larkspur Lane between Shadow Mountain and El Paseo. Visit www.fashionweekelpaseo.com for specific shows and event details.
