Kids Explore! Summer Program

Agua Caliente Cultural Museum

Agua Caliente Cultural Museum is currently accepting registrations for the Kids Explore! summer program for children ages 5-12.

Featuring hands-on activities such as creating a musical instrument, making an Indian doll, playing California Indian games, children learn while having fun.

Kids Explore! classes will be held Monday through Thursday, July 19-22 at the Museum, 219 S. Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Participants may sign up for one session, all sessions, or any combination of sessions. There is no fee for this program, but advanced registration is required.

Class topics include:

Monday, July 19 - Net Making

Tuesday, July 20 - Ethno-musicology for Kids

Wednesday, July 21 - Indian Doll Making

Thursday, July 22 - Having Fun in Cahuilla

Kids Explore! is part of an annual schedule of programs that includes Spirit Keepers lectures, focusing on Native American history and culture in the Coachella Valley and other parts of the western United States; Living Traditions classes for adults and children, offering hands-on experiences with Native skills and crafts; and cultural events such as the Festival of Native Film & Culture, Singing the Birds (Wikitmallem Tahmuwhae): Bird Song and Dance Festival, and Southern California Indian Storytelling Festival.

Agua Caliente Cultural Museum, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit institution, inspires people to learn about the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and other Native cultures. It keeps the Native spirit alive through exhibitions, collections, research, and educational programs. In recognition of its role as a regional and national resource, Agua Caliente Cultural Museum is the first Native American museum to be part of the prestigious Smithsonian Institution Affiliations Program. This status provides opportunities to share resources in programming, collections, scholarship, and technical expertise – and entitles the Museum to bring world-acclaimed Smithsonian exhibitions to the Coachella Valley.

Agua Caliente Cultural Museum is located at 219 S. Palm Canyon Drive in downtown Palm Springs. Museum hours are Labor Day to Memorial Day: Wednesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Sunday, noon to 5:00 p.m.; Memorial Day to Labor Day: Friday and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Sunday, noon to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free.
