Groovin’ to the Go-Go’s for a Good Cause

The Go-Go’s continue as one of the greatest all-girl bands in rock history, driven by the raw energy of their punk beginnings and tempered with the wisdom of three decades of performing.

These 1980 icons, who brought “We Got the Beat” into the world and several other big hits, promise to deliver again at Evening Under the Stars, May 5, 2012, in Palm Springs. The annual fundraiser for AIDS Assistance Program is a popular spring event offering creative entertainment themes. In 2011, The B-52s — era siblings of The Go-Go’s — brought guests to their feet with new wave-inspired hits.

This year’s event also features award-winning singer, film and Broadway star, and Emmy-nominated actress Lainie Kazan as Mistress of Ceremonies. Kazan embodies the word “entertainer” and is an artist who has reached the pinnacle in every area of performance.

Celebrity chef Susan Feniger is creating a special menu for the event. The award-winning chef, restaurateur, cookbook author, and radio and TV personality, is considered a leading authority on Latin cuisine.

The AIDS Assistance Program is dedicated to providing nutritional support to improve the quality of the lives of those living with HIV/AIDS. The event begins at 6 p.m. at O’Donnell Golf Club, 301 N. Belardo Rd., in Palm Springs. For tickets and more information, visit aidsassistance.org or call 760-325-8481.
